Sponsored placements

Stateless sells placements, labels them, and keeps them out of editorial judgement. This page says exactly what is for sale and what is not.

What is for sale

  • A placement on the front page — in the sponsored strip at the foot of the page, with a name, a link and one line of description.
  • A commissioned article — published at its own address, with one link of the buyer’s choosing, filed in the section its subject belongs to.

What is not for sale

  • A mention inside an editorial article.
  • Removal or rewriting of a published sentence.
  • A link without rel="sponsored", or without a label.

Rules that apply to every placement

Placements carry rel="sponsored nofollow noopener". They are labelled as sponsored where they appear. Commissioned articles keep their own address permanently — we do not retire them when a campaign ends.
